Spanish
May 2014- Map/Direction Project
In Spanish this semester we are learning about places and giving directions. As a way to deepen our understanding, we were given the assignment of drawing a city of our own and then writing a paper describing our city and giving directions from places within our city.
Reflection-
I really liked this project because I think Spanish is very useful in our lives today. When I'm going on mission trips in Costa Rica all that they speak is solid Spanish. When I am down there, I can use the stuff I learn in class in real life instances. I names my city "La Ciudad los adjetivos" which means "the city of Adjectives". Following this theme, I names all of my places the literal name, and then an adjective that went with it. For example "el parque de deversion" which means "the park of fun". I thought it was cool how lenient this project was on the little details like that, which made it easier for me to be creative and connect more personally with the assignment. I also liked being able to see where I was going with my directions on a map that was easy for me to read, it helped me to learn the vocabulary easily.
