Today we went to a local restaurant for breakfast called Aroma's! I had a Carmelo Glacer, sort of like a caramel frappé. We walked around the town center for a while and it was really cool to see all of the different shops and restaurants. Then for our last day of VBS all of the children could invite two guests to a hotdog lunch and they preformed the dances the kids had learned all week. Can't wait for teen week!
today was the day we went to las Musas, which is a waterfall and a water park. We took all of the younger kids and we are planning to take all of the older kids next week. They don't usually get to swim, so it's very fun for them to get the opportunity! Most of them don't know how to swim though, so it's pretty scary for us and we made sure to keep an eye on all 100 kids.
Today we took a morning walk to the Maxi Pali after breakfast. After that we fed almost 200 children lunch and ate lunch ourselves! Then at 2 the VBS program started. In crafts we made whale cup games and light houses! The kids loved both and it was a good time! Can't wait for dinner- burgers!!!!
Today the construction crew(around 10 of us) went down into the Bajo and finished a floor that was planned to be done when another group added on a room to a home back in April. We put around 40 100lbs bags of dirt, concrete, and rocks into the truck that took them to the house, unloaded the bags, we mixed the cement into concrete, and poured it onto the dirt floor and leveled it. We had some extra concrete so we made a pathway to the door outside. Hard work but worth it for the finished product; a floor that will last for a long time and keep germs and dirt away from the family/children!
First full day serving in Costa Rica! Wifi is being kind of weird- posting might be off. Today I helped with crafts at the kids VBS program, it went really well! We made frog plates and snake chains to represent two of the seven plagues Moses faces in the Bible. All of the kids loved gluing the chain together, picking the color of their eyes, and of course the party whistles they got with the frogs (a.k.a. Zappos). Successful first VBS day! Also took a trip the Maxi Pali (similar to a Food Lion).
So excited that this time tomorrow I'll be arriving at Faithful Servants Mission! I can't wait to be back in the beautiful country of Costa Rica. I am also excited to be back with the people who I haven't seen in a year, yet continually effect my life each and everyday. Please send prayers and positive thoughts this way for the group I am with and for me!
